Hotel industry demands price cut for cooking gas

Bengaluru: The ongoing surge in cooking gas prices has further burdened the hotel industry, which is already grappling with escalating costs of essential commodities.

Despite a significant drop in crude oil prices, the rates of cooking gas and fuel have remained unaffected. The Bruhath Bangalore Hotels Association (BBHA) has raised its voice, demanding a decrease in fuel and cooking gas prices.

PC Rao, President of BBHA, expressed disappointment over the lack of reduction in petrol and diesel prices, despite the barrel price of crude oil decreasing from $134 to $72. Notably, the current selling price of petrol stands at Rs. 102 per litre, with an additional tax of Rs. 58 imposed.

Rao also highlighted that the international market witnessed a decrease of Rs. 50 per tonne in the price of LPG cooking gas. The BBHA urges authorities to address these concerns and alleviate the financial strain faced by the hotel industry.
