Bengaluru: Congress leader and former chief minister M Veerappa Moily on Thursday alleged that higher education minister C N Ashwath Narayan, in the previous BJP government should be “hanged” for destroying the higher education system without filling any vacancies, not even providing infrastructure facilities during his tenure.
Speaking to reporters at Chikkaballapur , he said that the former minister overlooked filling vacancies in all 41 universities spread across the state which led to a decline in the quality of education.
As most of the universities are understaffed, he said that he had written a letter to chief minister Siddaramaiah to fill all pending vacancies and ensure basic facilities for all such higher educational institutions for t h e promotion of education of students.
He blamed C N Ashwath Narayan , saying that he spent his term indulging in raising unnecessary issues. The senior Congress leader said that his party will appoint heads for all boards and corporations after the on-going assembly session ends.
Loyal party workers will be nominated for boards and corporations. His party will repeat its victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha election by winning at least 25 seats, he asserted.
The former chief minister also lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for silencing the voice of opposition leaders by misusing central investigating agencies.
On corruption allegations of the former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy against the ruling Congress in the state by flashing a pen drive, he dubbed "bombs are not there in Kumaraswamy's pockets but they are crackers", Kumarswamy often makes such “hit and run” allegations without any proof and records.
As he is upset with his party poll debacle in the recently held assembly polls, so he is issuing such statements, Moily said.
