Bengaluru: Karnataka Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan has instructed Gram Sabhas to swiftly complete and submit the beneficiary list within a week for the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaaz Yojana (PMGSY) scheme, which aims to construct houses for the homeless in rural areas.
The state has been allocated 1.41 lakh houses under this central scheme, with 63 thousand houses already selected.
However, the finalization of the remaining 78 thousand houses is still pending. The Minister emphasized the need for concerned MLAs to prioritize this matter and personally oversee the finalization of the beneficiary list through the gram sabhas without delay.
Despite previous deadline extensions, the list of beneficiaries for the project is yet to be provided.
The latest deadline for finalizing the list has now been extended until July 20. The Minister warned that MLAs who have not completed the list should take immediate action, or the project will be returned to the Central government.
A comprehensive list of homeless individuals in rural areas has been prepared, and eligible candidates for the scheme have been identified.
The number of beneficiaries selected should align with the allocated number of houses. By informing the village councils and expediting the finalization of the list within a week, the state's homeless population will be able to avail the benefits of the scheme.
Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan confirmed that the selection process will be conducted online.
