Bengaluru: A successful politician is one who sees an opportunity in even small developments across the state and one such politician is former chief minister and Janata Dal (Secular) Leader in the State Legislative Assembly H.D.Kumaraswamy.

His father was no different. Deve Gowda even while touring Gujarat or Rajasthan, would rush to a village in Dharwad district when he heard of a farmer suicide.

On Wednesday evening, the conductor of the Mandya Bus Depot attempted suicide by consuming poison at his workplace while pointing fingers at Agriculture Minister Cheluvarayaswamy and his followers for his transfer.

Soon after the incident, local JD(S) leaders informed Kumaraswamy who rushed to Mandya and then to Mysuru where the conductor is being treated at a private hospital.

He spoke to the family members of the conductor and gathered all information including the ‘suicide note.’

He then spoke to the media seeking the resignation of Agriculture Minister Cheluvarayaswamy and rushed back to Bengaluru to raise the issue in the Assembly. Ironically, the principal opposition party, the BJP did not seem to be aware of the incident till a private Kannada news channels carried the news of Kumaraswamy ‘s visit to Mandya and Mysuru.

Taking the issue seriously, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said an inquiry would be held to know the reasons for the suicide attempt by the KSRTC conductor of the Mandya depot.
