
CM to hold Dasara high power meeting by end of July: Minister HC Mahadevappa

Mysuru: Mysuru district incharge minister HC Mahadevappa on Sunday said the CMheaded Dasara high power committee meeting will be held in Mysuru by the end of July to plan for the 10-day festival scheduled in midOctober.
Speaking to reporters, he said the district administration has been asked to plan for the festival. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who is the head of the committee, will explain details of the festival after the high power committee meeting.
Reacting to the decision of the previous BJP government to restrict the Mahisha Dasara celebrations, the minister said the Constitution guarantees everyone equal rights and opportunities, freedom of religion and belief.
“If people have such beliefs, let them celebrate,” he said adding that the government will not stop such celebrations.
The government has not yet received any proposal for Mahisha Dasara celebrations, he revealed. Refer ring to for mer chief minister H D Kumaraswamy’s allegations of a ‘cash for transfer’ scam, the minister hit back saying Kumarswamy is a former chief minister and must stop issuing such allegations.
On the confusion over reservation after the previous BJP government hiked the reservation to SC/STs and other castes, he said that the government will consult the advocate general over such issues.
