Consider 24/7 permit for eateries, association requests deputy CM DK Shivakumar

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday received a delegation of Bruhat Bengaluru Hotels Association (BBHA), who requested that they be allowed to keep their eateries open round the clock.

Shivakumar said he’d take their demand into consideration. It has been one of the longstanding demands of the industry, who argue that the move would enable greater growth of the sector.

The delegation was led by BBHA president PC Rao, who was accompanied by organisation vice president Subramanya Holla, general secretary Veerendra Kamat, joint secretaries Rakesh, Shakir and others.

They impressed upon him that if restaurants were allowed to be open round the clock, it would be very convenient for people who work night shifts such as cops, medical staff, and autorickshaw and cab drivers, who could stop for a meal and a toilet break during or after their working hours.

The BBHA also demanded the industry status for the sector and other measures that would enable ease of doing business.
