Bengaluru: A 19-year-old youth from the Chandra Layout area was allegedly picked up and later murdered by a group of young men in the city.

The incident came to light when the body of Mohammad Tahir, a resident of 4th Cross Gangondanahalli, was found in the bushes near Uttarahalli in Kengeri Police Station limits in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Tahir's father Syed Mohammed told News Trail that Tahir went to his work as usual on Monday and returned around 10 pm to his house.

"However, he went out again after receiving a call on his mobile phone around 11 pm. It has been revealed that Tahir had spoken with his employer, Tabrez, to inform that he had been picked up by a gang who was taking him towards Nayandahalli Metro Station.

"But before he could reveal more, the call got disconnected and the phone went off," Tabrez said.

Meanwhile, Tahir's family got worried as the youth did not return even after two hours. Syed continued to call his son's mobile phone, but could not establish contact.

"Several days ago Tahir was in a conflict with another boy named Niyamath in Tipu Nagar. I went to his house and narrated the matter to his father, Jalal," Syed said.

When Jalal called him, Niyamath said he was in Kengeri and Tahir was also with him. Jalal further instructed him to immediately return home along with Tahir.

But Niyamath's phone went off the next moment. A missing complaint was filed by Syed at Chandra Layout Police Station and the cops alerted their Kengeri counterparts.

Within a few hours, the police found a bludgeoned body lying in bushes in Uttarahalli while another team of cops tracked and arrested Niyamath. As per the police, the murder was carried out over a trivial matter.
