Delayed Ejipura flyover raises concerns about govt’s promises

Bengaluru: The pending work on the Ejipura fyover, a project promised during the assembly elections, has yet to commence, raising questions about the commitment of the government and the efficiency of the Bangalore Bruhat Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials.

Despite assurances from Minister Ramalingareddy, delays in the tender process and negotiations have stalled progress, leaving citizens frustrated and demanding answers.

During the assembly elections, Minister Ramalingareddy pledged that the construction of the Ejipura fyover would begin as soon as the new government assumed power.

However, the tender approval has not been granted, leaving citizens disappointed and raising concerns about the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises.

Delays and disputes BBMP officials, who are responsible for the project, have been cited as the main reason behind the delays.

They have reportedly failed to provide instructions to Minister Ramalingareddy, hindering the progress of the project. Additionally, the BBMP engineers have called for tenders multiple times, with negotiations on going to reduce the contract amount, frustrating the minister and leading to discontent within the government.

Legal intervention and public dissatisfaction The delay in the Ejipura fyover project has prompted the High Court to step in. The court had previously cancelled the lease for the project in March 2022 and warned the BBMP to reissue the tender and commence the work within three months.

However, despite the court’s directives, the tender process remains incomplete, prompting criticism from opposition BJP MLAs and leaving citizens questioning the government’s inability to start the project, despite being in power.

The delay in the Ejipura fyover project raises significant concerns about the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises and the efficiency of the BBMP officials involved.

Citizens, who had high hopes for the timely completion of the project, are now left dissatisfied and demanding answers.

It is imperative that the authorities involved, including Minister Ramalingareddy and the BBMP officials, take immediate action to resolve the issues surrounding the tender approval and ensure the swift commencement of the Ejiypur flyover project.

Transparency, accountability, and a strong focus on fulfilling promises are essential to restore public confidence and deliver on the development projects that have been longawaited by the citizens.
