Passengers notice smoke; Bengaluru bound train stopped

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: A Bengaluru-bound double decker train was stopped near Vellore on Thursday morning after smoke was noticed emanating from under its wheels.

The Chennai to Bengaluru Express was stopped for about 15 minutes and repairs were conducted. Southern Railway (SR) officials disclosed “overheating of the brack binding” as the reason for the smoke. The train was stopped and repaired near Gudiyattam Railway Station in Vellore.

After it was ascertained that there was no danger, the train was flagged off again and made its way to Bengaluru.

Jolar Railway Police have registered a case into the issue and an investigation is underway
