Evening showers batter city

Bengaluru: Heavy rains lashed parts of Bengaluru on Thursday evening, causing waterlogging and accompanying gales uprooting trees.

The evening showers began somewhere around 5:15 pm and continued for about half an hour. Rain picked back up around 6:30 continuing for another 30 minutes.

Areas that fall under the BBMP West such as Majestic, Magadi Road, Okalipuram, Sheshadripuram, Malleswaram and Srirampura experienced some of the heaviest rainfall and waterlogging soon followed.

Predictably, underpasses were flooded as well. Parts of central Bengaluru were also affected. Areas around Vidhana Soudha, Cubbon Park and Shivajinagar also experienced heavy rainfall. BBMP officials said that a fallen tree had been brought to their attention near Jayadeva in BTM Layout first srage.
