‘Ask top brass’: BJP leaders skip questions on Oppn leader
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The state BJP has gone into ‘silent mode’ over the inordinate delay in the selection of leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly. Former minister and veteran BJP leader, K.S.Eshwarappa for instance said that he did not know why there is a delay even two months after the announcement of the Assembly poll results.
“I have no idea about the delay...Please talk to Delhi leaders directly,” he said.
Former minister and BJP National General Secretary C.T. Ravi also answered in a similar manner saying that questions pertaining to the delay must be posed to Delhi leaders and not to him.
This indecisiveness of the BJP has come under fire from ruling Congress leaders who have been asking who’s the Opposition leader. With the current budget session set to end on July 21, not many BJP leaders are now concerned about the issue.
In the absence of an official Opposition Leader, several senior BJP MLAs including former CM Bommai, Vijayapura MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal, R. Ashok and K. Sunil Kumar have been taking on ruling party members.
This also seems to be happening for the first time in the history of the Karnataka Legislature.
