Bengaluru: Worried over the repeated postponement of the implementation of four of the five guarantee schemes announced by the ruling Congress Party before the Assembly polls, Congress lawmakers have urged party leaders to stick to the timeline fearing growing anger among people.
They conveyed this message to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar during a meeting they had with legislators.
Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar admitted to the delay in the implementation of the guarantee schemes and promised to launch other schemes as soon as possible.
One of the newly-elected Congress MLA told News Trail that they are being questioned by voters in their respective constituencies over the delay in implementation of the freebies. The CM was told that the Congress Party got 135 of the total 224 seats mainly due to the five guarantee schemes.
It has become difficult to face people because of the repeated postponement of the launch dates and the imposition of new conditions, the MLAs contended. The CM gave them a patient hearing and promised to launch all the schemes as early as possible.
The government will continue with the schemes no matter how much money it would cost the state exchequer, he said.
“You tell people that the government will take care of them and implement all the schemes. People must not listen to the misinformation campaigns by the Opposition BJP and JD(S) leaders”, the CM said.
