11 drug dealers held in city-wide raids

Bengaluru: Eleven drug peddlers, in the city to make a quick buck from party circles during the festive season, have been arrested by city police. Three are foreigners and three others are interstate drug peddlers from Manipur. Arrests were made by Konanakuntte, KS Layout, Banashankari of the South division, Annapurneshwari Nagar and Byatarayanapura police in the West division and Govindapura police in the East division.

The three foreigners are Dallo Barthelemy, 36, Prince Ani Chidozie Samuel, 33, and Fofana Ahamad, 28, all from different parts of Africa. Barthelemy lives in Bengaluru, in HRBR Layout and was arrested trying to sell MDMA at Teachers’ Colony. KS Layout police recovered MDMA worth Rs 1.3 lakh. When he was interrogated, he told police he is a habitual peddler and sold drugs to lead a lavish life.

Samuel and Ahamad, were arrested by Banashankari police. They have been booked under the NDPS Act, the Foreigners Act and Registration of Foreigners Act for staying on expired visas. Police recovered 32 grams of MDMA and vehicles. Samuel came to India on a medical visa and Ahamad with a business visa. Govindapura police arrested a pusher who was peddling hydro ganja in milk powder tins. The Nigerian peddler came to India on a business visa and became a full time criminal. Police have recovered 80 grams of hydro ganja and 260 pills.The three drug peddlers from Manipur who were arrested by the Konanakuntte police are Mueen Alam, 22, Mohd Sahidur Rahman, 24 and Mohd Wakim Yunus, 23. They were caught trying to sell drugs near the metro station in Konanakunte. Police have recovered 111.16 grams of heroin and Rs 600 in cash.

Shabbir and Anil were arrested by the Annapurneshwarinagar police, who recovered 8.16 kilograms of ganja. The ganja is said to be sourced from Odisha through Tamil Nadu.

In Byatarayanapura, police arrested Tukan Mandal and Nithyanand Shethi. They recovered 8.5 kilograms of ganja. Further investigations are on in all these cases.
