Teacher commits suicide after 'unsuccessful' transfer attempt

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a tragic incident, a 40-yearold teacher allegedly took her own life here on Saturday after she was unable to secure a transfer to a high school.

NT Jyoti had been working at Turavanahalli School in Doddaballapur for the past five years. She had been seeking a transfer to a high school for the past two years, but her requests had been denied.

On Saturday, Jyoti's husband, Virupaksha, found her hanging from a window in their residence. He rushed her to hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival. Virupaksha filed a complaint at the Doddaballapur Police Station.

A team visited the scene and initiated an investigation. The body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
