Bengaluru: In a swift action, the Parappana Agrahara police nabbed an absconding person who is accused in a gang-rape and human trafficking case in the city.

The accused was arrested based on a complaint filed by an Assam-based woman who alleged that she was lured by the accused on a fake promise of marriage. The accused has been identified as Shahiduddin, also a native of Assam.

The woman, in her statement, told the police that the accused met her at a park in Assam and proposed to her, promising to marry her.

Later, he brought her to Bengaluru and kept her in a house in Dodda Nagamangala. However, when the woman came to know that Shahiduddin was already married, she objected to his advances and demanded that he let her go back to her native.

The enraged accused allegedly assaulted her with a belt and locked her up inside the house. Later, he sent four unidentified men who raped her, she said.

The woman managed to escape from the house when the accused had gone out. She also said that a couple helped her and accompanied her to the police station in filing a complaint.

Police have said that the prime accused has been arrested while efforts are on to nab the other four men.
