Kumaraswamy to reach out to BJP for alliance?

Bengaluru: Even as the two-day Opposition meet is slated to get underway in Bengaluru on Monday, speculation is rife that JD(S), which has skipped said meeting, may ally with the BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

It is being whispered that JD(S) legislature party leader HD Kumaraswamy may fly out to New Delhi on Tuesday for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting.

Rumour mills have been working overtime ever since Kumaraswamy on Thursday said that he would take a decision keeping in mind the survival of the party in the Assembly.

He had been responding to a query by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The JD(S) bigwig didn’t help matters by telling Asianet Suvarna on Saturday that he was keeping his options open.

“Under the current set of circumstances, it is the sentiment of many people that the BJP and JD(S) should become one. However, it is only a sentiment as of now. There has been no further action on it. We in the party will take a call on how to respond to people’s sentiments."
