For once, BMTC cuts fares by 34%

Bengaluru: It’s not often that bus fares are cut but Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has done it reducing medium and long distance fares and bus pass prices of air conditioned (Vajra) services in the city by 34%. However, the cut will not apply to Vayu-Vajra, the airport buses.

The price of Vajra day pass has been reduced from `120 to `100, while the monthly pass rate has been reduced from `2,000 to `1,500.

A BMTC official said, “We are hoping more people shift to AC buses after the fare reduction.”
