Teachers under minority directorate demand fair treatment

NT Correspondent

Bengaluru: A large number of teachers working in schools under the Minority Directorate gathered at Freedom Park on Monday, demanding fair treatment from the government.

The teachers are upset that their requests for promotions have been ignored, and that they have been given a raw deal compared to teachers in other departments.

The teachers' main grievance is that the government has revised the cadre and appointment rules for the Minority Directorate after a lapse of 12 years. The new rules do not harmonise with the existing rules, and as a result, teachers who were appointed under the old rules have been denied promotions.

The teachers are also upset that the government has given 100 per cent promotion opportunities to district officials in the 'B' cadre, while only providing limited promotion opportunities to teachers in the same cadre.

This has caused dissatisfaction among the teacher community, who feel that they are being discriminated against. The teachers are demanding that the government fulfil their requests for promotions and fair treatment.

They are also calling for the government to revise the cadre and appointment rules for the Minority Directorate so that they are harmonised with the existing rules.
