Bengaluru: In a third alcohol-related crime reported in the city recently, a youth killed both his parents after a fight over a trivial reason at Byatarayanapura in Kodigehalli Police Station limits late on Monday.
Bhaskar Udyawar, 61, and his wife Shantamma, 60, are the deceased while the accused was identified as their son, Sharath.
While Sharath, their younger son lived with them, their older son lives in Kudlu. It has been revealed that Bhaskar was working in Dubai for some years while his wife retired as a government employee. They built a house near Kodigehalli Gate and settled down there.
It is said that Sharath had psychological issues and would often pick fights with his parents after drinking and would also assault them. Around 8 pm on Monday, he came home drunk and picked up a fight with his parents again.
During the scuffle, he allegedly hit his parents on the head with an iron rod. He then locked the door from outside and fled from the place.
The murder came to light on Tuesday morning, when the older son called his parents, and there was no answer. He then called some neighbours who checked the house and found the bodies. DCP Lakshmi Prasad said the couple’s older son alerted the police.
