Gruesome double murder in Bluru sends shockwaves through the neighbourhood

Bengaluru: The gruesome double murder of a husband and wife who were found in a pool of blood in their house has taken the police aback.

The deceased Bhaskar Udyawar, 61, and his wife Shantamma, 60, were allegedly murdered by their second son Sharath.

While the building's gate and staircase appeared ordinary at first glance, the pervasive sense of dread in the voices of the neighbouring residents imbued these otherwise mundane features with an unsettling aura.

The neighbour of the deceased was visibly trembling with fear as they spoke to NewsTrail. The deceased had been a resident of a house in Byatarayanapura, located within the Kodigehalli police limits.

They were known for their amiable and reserved nature, having never caused any trouble or disturbance to others.

The neighbour conveyed, "They were exceptionally pleasant people, and we always enjoyed engaging in pleasant conversations with them." This heinous incident has sent shockwaves through the entire neighbourhood, leading other residents of the building to hastily vacate their homes out of fear.

The neighbour of the deceased also informed the NewsTrail that they are contemplating a swift departure.

Furthermore, the neighbour disclosed that Sharath's parents had cautioned everyone in the building against interacting with him, urging them to maintain a safe distance.

Curiously, during the few months they resided there, they had never encountered the accused, Sharath, in person. Background on the incident Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru North-East division, Lakshmi Prasad told News Trail that the murders might have taken place between 8:30 pm to 9 pm on Monday.

The couple seemed to have suffered fatal head injuries from a blunt object such as an iron rod. It is said that Sharath had psychological issues and would often pick fights with his parents after drinking and would also assault them.

Around 8 pm on Monday, he came home drunk and picked up a fight with his parents again. During the scuffle, he allegedly hit his parents on the head with an iron rod.

He then locked the door from outside and fled from the place. The couple’s elder son alerted the police the next morning.

A complaint has been filed alleging that his brother may have committed the murders. The forensic team and dog squad have checked the place and we will arrest the accused soon.
