BarbieHimer set to dominate box office today

Bengaluru: This movie season is about to get a whole lot more interesting. On July 21, two of the most anticipated films of the year will be released on the same day: Barbie and Oppenheimer.

On one hand, Barbie is the live-action adaptation of the iconic Mattel doll. The film stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, and it's directed by Greta Gerwig. Gerwig is known for her acclaimed films like Lady Bird and Little Women.

On the other hand, is Oppenheimer, the biographical drama about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb.

The film stars Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer and is directed by Christopher Nolan. Nolan is known for his epic, visually stunning films like Inception and The Dark Knight. But what makes this clash of titans even more interesting is the way that the two films are being marketed.

Barbie is going over the top with its marketing, with everything from a life-size Barbie Dreamhouse to Barbie-themed products everywhere.

Oppenheimer, on the other hand, is being marketed in a much more subdued way. The film's marketing campaign has focused on the film's historical accuracy, Nolan's vision for the film, and how every scene of the film is shot without any VFX or graphics.

This is going to be one of the most interesting box office battles of the year, worldwide, including Bengaluru. As the e-platforms opened bookings for both movies, a tremendous response from the audience has led to sold-out shows in most multiplexes.

Notably, tickets for Oppenheimer are in high demand, fetching prices as steep as Rs 1500 and Rs 2000 per ticket in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, the excitement for Barbie seems equally fervent, with an impressive 54,000 tickets being sold on BookMyShow within just 24 hours of its booking window opening.
