Asset worth due to skyrocketing real estate prices: DKS
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday reacted to being named as the richest MLA in the country, saying it was due to the appreciation in the market value of the real estate he has owned for a long time.
He made the comments to media persons on the sidelines of a government programme at the Vidhana Soudha. Shivakumar has given similar reasons for his wealth in the past.
He reacted to a question about the report from Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) naming him as the richest MLA with a net worth of Rs 1,143 crore and liabilities of Rs 265 crore.
“None of the assets have been acquired now. I have had them for a long time. The high valuation is due to the market value,” Shivakumar said, adding that he had liquidated some assets for funds to facilitate his party work.
