Tura, Meghalaya: A mob attack at the office of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has resulted in five security personnel sustaining injuries. Despite being unharmed, Mr Sangma remains inside his office in Tura, where hundreds of protesters have surrounded the compound.

Civil society groups ACHIK and GHSMC, from Garo Hills, have been on a hunger strike, demanding a winter capital in Tura.

The situation escalated this evening when a large gathering of people converged outside the Chief Minister's office and began hurling stones. Although the Chief Minister was engaging with the protesters, the situation turned volatile when some individuals in the crowd resorted to stone-throwing.
