‘Kukis are tenants, they will be wiped out’

Manipur, NT Bureau: Amidst the uproar over the viral video depicting the disturbing incident of two Kuki tribal individuals being paraded naked and allegedly gang-raped by a Meitei mob during ethnic violence in Manipur, another video clip has surfaced on the internet, adding fuel to the fire.

The short clip features an old interview with Meitei Leepun chief, Pramot Singh, conducted by senior journalist Karan Thapar on June 6. In the video, Singh can be heard referring to the Kuki community as "outsiders and tenants."

Since the emergence of this clip, Singh has faced severe backlash from netizens, who accuse him of promoting the "annihilation of Christian Kukis."

During the interview, Singh makes alarming statements, saying, "The whole population of the Kukis will be wiped out from the area because they have been blocking essential commodities, and setting up encroachments (sic)."
