Ruling Cong to dig up scams of previous BJP, JD(S) govts

Bengaluru: To tackle the BJPJanata Dal (Secular) combine after the two parties decided to join hands, the ruling Congress Party has decided to dig up the old cases which had come in handy during the Assembly poll campaign.

As a first step, the Siddaramaiah government has referred the multi-crore Police Sub-Inspector recruitment scandal which rocked the previous BJP government, for a judicial probe by a retired judge. Several IPS, KSPS, and BJP office-bearers are allegedly involved in this scam.

The probe is almost over and a charge sheet is expected to be filed in court soon. In the meantime, a one-man judicial commission is expected to hold a parallel inquiry into the scam and submit its findings to the government.

Last week, two former CMs, Bommai and Kumaraswamy addressed a joint press conference, and urged the incumbent government to take back the excess land reportedly given to the NICE Company for the Mysuru Expressway project 25- 30 years ago, as per recommendations of the Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by former minister T.B.Jayachandra.

With the BJP backing the JD(S) demanding that the interests of farmers whose land was taken away should be protected, the Congress government is reportedly examining documents regarding the agreement between the state government and the NICE Company made several years ago when JD(S) supremo H.D.Deve Gowda was Karnataka CM.

The idea behind this is to put the blame back on the the JD(S) for creating the ‘ mess’.

According to highly placed sources, the CM is learnt to have asked all ministers to look into issues of the last four years, from 2019 to 2023, and dig out information regarding scams during BJP rule.
