Karnataka Minister issues warning to those asking money from people to register for Gruha Jyoti
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Karnataka’s Minister for Women and Child Welfare Department, issued a strong warning to those engaged in fraudulent practices related to the Gruha Jyoti Scheme.
Stressing on the government’s commitment to tackle the issue, she emphasized that anyone caught accepting money from people for scheme registration will face criminal charges.
Speaking at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belgaum, Minister Hebbalkar revealed that the login IDs of three individuals involved in such activities have already been traced.
She assured the public that the government is taking this matter seriously and ensuring that those responsible will be held accountable.
Expressing disappointment at the existence of bribery despite efforts to make the Gruha Lakshmi Yojana accessible to women for free, the minister urged citizens to report any instances of corruption to the District Deputy Commissioner or local police station.
She clarified that the scheme does not involve any fees from the public, as the government provides Rs. 12 per application for the uploaders, with Rs. 10 for uploading and Rs. 2 for providing a printout.
