Gold worth Rs 1.59 crore seized by Customs at KIA

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport here nabbed two passengers who allegedly attempted to smuggle gold worth Rs 1.59 crore by concealing it in a cavity of a synthetic belt.

According to the officials, the passengers are Indians who had landed at the airport from a Singapore flight on Monday.

The gold was in the form of two chains which were meticulously concealed in the cavity of a synthetic belt, the officials added. Customs officials further said the two were arrested and sent to judicial custody
