Man 'kills' wife, says it was suicide

Bengaluru: A man who allegedly strangled his wife to death over a trivial issue was arrested by the Banaswadi police in the city.

Police said the incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday and the accused was identified as Siddappa Basavaraj. Siddappa was married to Kenchamma, 19, a resident of HRBR Layout six months ago.

However, the couple was found to be getting into fights constantly. Around 2 am on Wednesday, the couple got into an argument that took an ugly turn.

An enraged Siddappa strangled Kenchamma to death. Later, he called his relatives over the phone and told them that his wife had committed suicide by hanging.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr Bheemashanker Guled said the suspicious relatives then alerted the jurisdictional police, who investigated the spot and took him for interrogation during which the accused confessed to have killed his wife.
