KMF's Nandini rises to 6th spot in latest brand footprint ranking, Amul drops to 3

Bengaluru: Nandini, the dairy brand of Karnataka Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KMF), has improved its position in the latest rank list of consumer brands in the country. It climbed to the 6th spot in 2023, up from 7th in 2022.

Amul, on the other hand, dropped from the 2nd spot in 2022 to the 3rd spot in 2023. The ranking, called Brand Footprint, is published by Kantar Worldpanel, a London-based market research group.

This development may boost KMF's confidence as they compete with Amul, a strong rival. Amul's plans to enter the liquid milk market in Karnataka had caused protests ahead of the assembly polls in May 2023.

Additionally, Amul was chosen by the Andhra Pradesh government to revive the defunct Vijaya brand. To support dairy farmers in Karnataka, the state government has decided to increase the price of liquid milk sold by KMF by Rs 3 per litre starting from August 1, 2023.

Among other cooperative dairy brands, Aavin, the brand of the Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers’ Federation, maintained its 9th spot in the Brand Footprint ranking.

Parle, the biscuit brand owned by Parle Products, continues to lead the list, retaining the top spot in the Brand Footprint ranking.
