Bengaluru: South Western Railway (SWR) disclosed that a landslide in Uttara Kannada district that occurred on Wednesday had been cleared and that some train services on the route had been resumed as of Sunday afternoon.
Trains that run from destinations like Bengaluru, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Tirupati to Vasco Da Gama had been disrupted for five days due to the landslide and they still haven’t resumed. However, goods trains are now plying on the route.
SWR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Aneesh Hegde said that the landslide was cleared and a test run was conducted around noon, adding that some trains resumed on the route around 3:30 pm.
“After continuous and untiring efforts despite heavy rainfall, the landslide between Castle Rock and Caranzol Stations of Braganza Ghat section of Hubballi Division has been cleared,'' he said.
