Restore millets in school meals, Student org tells Centre

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) on Sunday slammed the Union government for withdrawing millets from mid-day meal schemes and demanded reinstatement of the same.

“AIDSO State Committee demands that the central government should not allow any kind of petty politics in such a serious matter and must immediately supply millet and jowar as per requirement,” AIDSO State Secretary Ajay Kamath said.“

The Karnataka government had decided to provide millet and jowar in the form of millet balls (Ragi Mudde) and Jowar Roti to the children of the state following the Central government's scheme of providing cereal in hot mid-day meals to school children.

But the proposal was rejected by the Food Supply Corporation under the Central government. AIDSO Karnataka strongly condemns this move by the Central Government.
