Bengaluru: Cottonpet police booked a man for tying the legs of his three-year-old daughter and suspending her from the building terrace as punishment for demanding a chocolate.
According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday at a residential building under Cottonpet Police Station limits in Bengaluru. The matter was reported to the police by a neighbour who witnessed the “horrifying” act and recorded a video on his mobile phone.
The video was brought to the notice of the jurisdictional police who located the address and picked up the accused for questioning. Police said that the accused is a businessman from Rajasthan and resides with his family in Cottonpet here.
"On Saturday, the accused was visited by some guests and he offered them sweets. At that time, his daughter allegedly began to demand chocolate, which was refused as she had a cold and congestion," sources from the police said.
It is alleged that the victim started to wail and began to throw a tantrum in front of the guests, which embarrassed the accused and his wife.
Upset, the accused took the child to the terrace of the four-storeyed residential building on the pretext of consoling her and punished her to discipline her, sources added.
The accused has been charged under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and produced before the child welfare committee for counselling. Further probe is underway
