Grand Mysuru Dasara from Oct 15

Bengaluru: Reiterating that the Dasara celebration must become a people’s festival, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the much-acclaimed Mysuru Dasara-2023 will be celebrated in a grand and meaningful manner and will be inaugurated atop Chamundi Hill in Mysuru on October 15 between 10:15 am and 10:30 am.

The Dasara High Power Committee meeting resolved to celebrate the festival on a grand scale by having the usual features such as film festival, food festival, Raitha Dasara, cultural programmes at various locations, Yuva Dasara, Mahila Dasara, Makkala Dasara and Kavi Ghoshti that are held on all nine-days as part of the Dasara celebrations.

This time, there will be special illumination all over the city from the day of the inauguration and one week after the Dasara festival ends (October 30). The Jamboo Savari and torchlight parade will also be held on a grand scale.

Five guarantee schemes in Tableaux

Siddaramaiah said this time, there will be tableaux from all the districts plus those highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the State and the specialties of each district. Along with this, there will be tableaux on the five guarantee schemes being implemented by the incumbent Congress government.

The CM reiterated that the Dasara exhibition would be inaugurated on the day of opening of the ten-day Dasara festival, and this time all government department stalls must be ready on day one. Besides. all other stalls must be present on October 15.

He said though there are top-grade artists of all forms in the state, preference must be given to local artists. College students be given a platform to exhibit their hidden talents in Yuva Dasara. At the same time, basic infrastructure must be provided to the visiting tourists.

This time, there would be more women visitors to Mysuru because of the Shakti scheme.

Airshow

Regarding holding the airshow, Siddaramaiah said the government proposes to hold it during the Dasara celebrations, and it would be discussed with the Defence Minister.

The Dasara celebrations would also be held in Srirangapatna and Chamarajanagar simultaneously.The CM was given the power to select a suitable person for the inauguration of the Dasara festival this time.
