Bommai slams Congress govt for diversion of SC/ST funds for guarantee schemes

Bengaluru: Former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has slammed the incumbent Congress government for diverting Rs 11,000 crore earmarked under the SCP/TSP Act for the overall development of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes in the State, for the implementation of the five guarantee schemes instead.
He said in a bid to implement the freebies, it looks like the state government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is all set to upset the state’s economy.
The days are not far off when Karnataka’s development will be derailed due to the diversion of funds meant for the uplift of SC/ST communities.
The government had given approval for Rs 23,000 crore under the SCP/ TSP act instead of Rs 34,000 crore and this is a clear violation of the SCP Act and a great injustice to the SC/ ST communities, he said.
