Rs 11k crore from sub-plan to benefit SCs-STs, says CM

Bengaluru: Following backlash over plans to divert Rs11,000 crores from the Scheduled Castes SubAllocation and Tribal-Sub Allocation Plan (SC-STTSP) to the five guarantees, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah disclosed that the funds would be used for the SC and ST communities only.

The CM had on Monday announced that Rs 34,293.69 crores would be allocated to the SC-ST-TSP.

However, on being pressed, Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa told media persons that Rs11,000 crore from the sub-plan would indeed be diverted to the guarantees. Alleging that the BJP was trying to misguide Dalits on the issue, Siddaramaiah said: “The government has set aside some Rs11,00 crore from the SCST sub-plan. This amount would be compulsorily allocated to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families.”
