Sitaram, Umashree & Das likely to be nominated to Upper House: CM to submit list to Guv soon
NT Correspondent: The Congress party has kick-started the process for filling up three berths in the State Legislative Council following the resignation by three sitting members ahead of the State Legislative Assembly elections.
Highly placed sources told News Trail that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is learnt to have finalised three names and the list would be submitted to Raj Bhavan for the necessary action.
Those who are likely to get the berths in the Upper house are former ministers, MR Sitaram and Umashree and former Enforcement Directorate Officer Sudham Das.
While the names of Sitaram and Umashree are almost finalised, Das’s nomination is yet to get the green signal from the high command.
A section of party leaders are not happy with the nomination of Sudham Das to the Legislative Council who absolutely have no connection with state politics nor actively participated in the campaigning during the Assembly polls.
A group of Congress workers had launched an online campaign in social media questioning Das’s nomination to the Council when there were lakhs of workers who worked day and night to bring the Congress party to power with a thumping majority.
