
Murder accused shot at, arrested

Anekal: The city police opened two rounds of fire at a murder accused, wounding him in the leg, on Hosur Road in Anekal taluk outskirts of the city after he assaulted the police in a bid to evade arrest.
A police team had taken the accused to a crime scene for spot inspection (mahazar) when he tried to flee, sources from the police said.
The accused, Akash, 19, was shot in the leg after he attacked policeman Manikanta Baladandi in a bid to escape.
Anekal Inspector of Police Chandrappa shot him in the leg when the accused ignored his stern warnings to surrender. The accused and the injured policeman are currently under treatment at the Anekal Government Hospital.
The police said that the accused had been on the run after murdering a youth, Hemanth, on July 31.
Following the hospital visit on Sunday, Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun examined the scene of the shootout at Chavaragram Divine Layout near an under-construction building, the place where the accused had been taken for spot inspection.
A knife which the accused had used to attack the policeman was recovered from the place. Additional SP Purushottam, CPI Chandrappa and other officials were present.
