New Delhi/Agencies: The World Health Organisation (WHO) raised a warning regarding a particular batch of common cold syrup produced in India, citing its inadequate quality on Monday.
This marks the fifth instance within the past year in which the global health organization has issued an alert pertaining to syrups originating from India.
The recent alert pertains to a batch of 'Cold Out' syrup, manufactured by Fourrts (India) Laboratories for the Indian company Dabilife Pharma.
According to the WHO, samples obtained from this batch in Iraq were discovered to contain unacceptable levels of diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol as impurities.
Ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol have the potential to induce vomiting, seizures, impact the circulatory system, and lead to acute renal failure.
