Bengaluru: The Lalbagh flower festival is in full bloom, with people from all over the State flocking to see the stunning displays of thousands of different flowers.
The festival was inaugurated on August 4 by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and since then, thousands of people have feasted their eyes on the beautiful replica of the Vidhana Soudha and other flower arrangements.
Families are bringing their children to the botanical park to see the colourful array of flowers put up on display.
One of the visitors, who came with his wife and two children, said, “Nowadays my kids are always on their phone, so it is a nice change for them to have an opportunity to see several varieties of flowers in one place.”
The park is filled with vibrant-coloured flowers and heady fragrance of thousands of them, both the original and hybrid varieties from India and around the world that have been cultivated since January.
One 12-year-old girl who visited the festival with her family was amazed by the wide variety of flowers on display.
She told News Trail, "I've never seen so many flowers in my life, not even in movies! It is so beautiful! I didn't even know there were so many different kinds of flowers."
The flower festival in Lalbagh was a sight to behold, with thousands of people gathered to enjoy the beautiful displays. However, some visitors were not as respectful of the flowers, as they were seen plucking and stepping on them.
This behaviour was particularly noticeable around the replica of the Vidhana Soudha, where the pathway was crowded and people were pushing and shoving.
Security personnel were deployed to control the crowd, but they could only do so to a certain extent. Ultimately, it is up to the visitors to be responsible and follow laid-down regulations, such as not littering or plucking flowers.
