First-year BTech student dies by suicide after financial losses in PUBG game

Bengaluru: In a tragic event, a firstyear BTech student, identified as Praveen Patil (20) from Devinagar in Kalaburagi, allegedly committed suicide after suffering financial losses in a game of PUBG on August 6.
Kalaburagi Police Commissioner R Chetan revealed that Praveen Patil, who had enrolled in an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) programme at a private engineering college, took his own life by hanging himself at his residence when he was alone.
Following the incident, Praveen's parents filed a complaint at Raghavendra Nagar Police Station. Upon inspecting his mobile phone, they discovered that Praveen was an avid PUBG player, and they speculated that his suicide may be linked to financial losses incurred in the game.
The police are conducting an indepth investigation.
