Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has removed over 59,000 flex banners in the city following criticism from the High Court of Karnataka.
The HC had ordered the BBMP to remove illegal flexes and hoardings on August 2.
It also directed the civic body and state government to submit a report in three weeks and added that Rs 50,000 fine per banner would be imposed on offenders.
The BBMP had failed to act on earlier orders and directions by the state's top court, but it finally complied with the HC's latest order after facing public pressure.
