Man loses Rs 5 lakh to Ex-corporator's son found dead cyber crooks

Bengaluru: A Peenya resident lost Rs 5 lakh to cyber fraudsters who promised to send him expensive gifts from abroad.

The victim, Patrick Rohan, alleged that he came in contact with an unidentified user on Facebook with a profile named Miss Jha.

The user alle gedly promised Rohan that she would get him a job as a designer in London. Further the victim alleged that he later befriended some other users named Priyank Saxena, Gautam Sen, and Rohit Jain, who claimed to be mutual friends of Jha.

Later Jha told Rohan she was sending him gifts such as shirts, shoes, and rings and sought money to pay at customs. She asked Rohan to transfer money to Priyank Saxena.

The accused reportedly stopped responding to Rohan after he transferred the money. A case was registered regarding the incident.
