Bengaluru: A 21-year-old woman who had gone missing on Thursday night, was shockingly found murdered near her rented house in the early hours of Friday.
The deceased was identified as Mahanandi, who hailed from Kalaburagi district. It has been revealed that she and her elder sister were working as attendants at a Shell petrol station in Mahadevapura Police Station limits.
Both the women were living in a rented accommodation in Lakshmi Sagar Layout, sources said. The police said that statements of Mahanandi's sister and their neighbours have been recorded and her body sent for a post-mortem analysis.
The cause of murder can be ascertained only after the report is obtained, the police said. DCP, Whitefield Division, S Girish expressed suspicion that Mahanandi was choked to death as there were visible marks on her neck.
"Mahanandi had not gone to work on Thursday and was cooking food for supper. Suddenly she stepped out and went missing," he said.
