Joyride turns tragic; two engg students die in city

Bengaluru: A joy ride tur ned tragic for five engineering students on Sunday morning when two of them died and three others suffered critical injuries after their speeding car rammed into a metal divider railing near Palanahalli Gate on Airport Road here.

The incident took place around 3 am following which the Yelahanka traffic police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured youths to a nearby hospital.

The deceased were identified as Karthik Jain, 23, and Adarsh Kumar, 23, both residents of Mathikere who were pursuing engineering courses in Bengaluru.

Speaking to News Trail, the jurisdictional traffic police said the deceased along with their three friends were on the way to Nandi Hills. However as they were crossing Palanahalli Gate near Devanahalli, the youth while overspeeding, lost control of the wheel and crashed into a metal divider railing.

As per the police, Karthik and Adarsh died on the spot while the other three were taken to hospital for treatment.

The bodies were shifted to Yelahanka Government hospital. Due to the impact, the car was completely damaged. A case has been registered at Yelahanka Traffic Police Station regarding the incident.
