Bengaluru: In a shocking case, a retired policeman has been arrested, allegedly for raping his tenant’s minor daughter.
The accused, aged 74, who retired as a sub-inspector of the Bengaluru police has been booked under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday night. The victim’s mother, in her statement to police, stated that her daughter had gone to the ground floor to fetch her toy that had fallen there.
As she didn’t return for some time, the mother raised an alarm following which the 7-yearold returned home crying inconsolably. The victim narrated her ordeal to her mother.
When the minor’s father went to confront the accused landlord, he was threatened by his son, a policeman himself. The victim’s father alleged that the retired subinspector’s son told him to take some money and vacate the rented residence without revealing the incident to anyone.
A medical examination is being conducted for the accused and the victim. It is gathered that the retired sub-inspector’s son may be charged for threatening the girl’s father, and for attempting to conceal the crime.
