Extended Purple line will be operational from Sept: CM
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that the extension segment of the Metro Purple Line – between Challaghatta and Kadugodi (Whitefield) – will be operational from September this year.
The CM made the announcement while addressing a gathering at Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground on the 77th Independence Day.
“The total stretch of the Metro train in the city is 69.66km and about 6.1 lakh users are availing the service daily”, he said.
He added that the work on Baiyappanahalli to Krishnarajapuram and Kengeri to Challaghatta expansion will be ready by September. Further, Siddaramaiah noted that Bengaluru stands at the second place in the country in the Metro networks.
The Nagasandra to Madavara Green Line and RV Road to Bommanahalli are likely to be ready for service by December 2023, he mentioned in his I-Day speech.
Nearly 27,000 passengers are using the KR Pura to Whitefield Metro line, and the number of passengers is likely to increase after BMRCL opens the 15.5 km long Metro line.
