Bengaluru: Claiming to be bank executives, two unidentified men duped a hotel owner of Rs 52,000 here.

"The miscreants promised me that I will get a daily cashback of Rs 300 if I installed a certain online payment application and used it," Parul Shah, who runs a biryani restaurant in Ramamurthy Nagar, said.

Shah said that around 1 pm on Saturday he was approached by two men who introduced themselves as bank executives. The two men told him that he has an exclusive offer from the bank wherein he will get Rs 300 cashback daily.

Further the men told Shah about an online payment app through which he can avail the offer.

"They asked me to share my bank account details and other documents. Later they took my mobile phone to install an application," Shah alleged.

After a few minutes, the duo returned his documents and mobile phone and left the place saying that the application has been installed and that he will receive a confirmation message from the bank after sometime.

The fraud came to light when Parul Shah checked his account and found that Rs 52,000 had been debited from his account. Immediately he approached the Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station and registered a complaint.

The police have taken up a case under IT Act and are searching for the miscreants.
