‘Nagpur Education Policy’: DKS on NEP exit
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday justified the scrapping of the National Education Policy (NEP), pointing out that abolition of the same had been a promise the Congress had made in their manifesto.
The Karnataka Congress chief also branded the NEP ‘Nagpur Education Policy’, making a reference to the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which is regarded as the parent body of the BJP.
Shivakumar also asked why BJP ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra hadn’t implemented the NEP. “It is purely a political agenda.
NEP is Nagpur Education Policy. The people on the NEP committee themselves don’t know what it is. They were just made to sign on it. We, the government, will look Iinto it.
We had assured the people of Karnataka that when NEP came out, we would modify it and make a state education policy,” he said.
