Hubballi: A one-and-a-halfyear-old child, pronounced dead at the KIMS Hospital in Hubballi, shocked everyone when it was discovered that he was still alive upon his return to Basapura village of Navalgund taluk for the final rites.

The infant, identified as Akash Basavaraja Pujara, had been admitted to KIMS Hospital due to his worsening health condition in recent days.

After medical intervention yielded no response from Akash, the medical professionals at the hospital arrived at the conclusion that the child's heart had ceased beating and consequently declared him dead.

After that, the body of the child was transported to his village for the last rites. Upon the body's return to the village, the parents performed the funeral rituals, only to discover that their son was breathing once again.

Subsequently, the parents had Akash admitted to the hospital in Navalgund. Due to the lack of a ventilator at that facility, the child was transferred back to KIMS Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment in the ICU.

KIMS Hospital later clarified that when the family discharged the child and left the hospital, he was still alive, and the hospital had not officially declared him deceased. KIMS director Ramalingappa stated, "We did not provide any certificate indicating the child's demise."
