Governor clears names of 3 candidates

Bengaluru: Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot has given the assent for the nomination of three persons as members of the Karnataka Legislative Council, with immediate effect.

According to a special gazette notification, they are former ministers MR Seetharam, Umashree, and former ED officer HP Sudham Das.

The office of the governor had some doubts about Seetharam who had been facing the charges of amassing wealth, and the case was pending before the Lokayuktha.

Even the recommendation of Sudham Das for the MLC had met with a lot of opposition from a section of the Congress leaders. But nothing happened as Sudham is said to be close to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge.
